Nintendo WII installation for India

I am jotting down this post in an instant urge to facilitate all the new Nintendo users in and around India for the correct way to connect Nintendo Wii to electrical plugs. This post would let you know the best way to install a Nintendo Wii which you may have purchased from your recent business trip to the US of A or some of your US cousin might have gifted it to you.

I would segregate the Wii installation process in two sections:
1. Buying Nintendo Wii
2. Installation of Wii in India

1. Buying Nintendo Wii :

You can buy them from Walmart or CostCo and its better if you buy online as it is cheaper than buying at the store.

Here is the checklist of things that you need to have before you finish your Wii shopping.

1. Nintendo Wii Console (contains standard Wii console & sensor + Wii adapter + Wii sports + nanchuck) - $199

2. Extra Wiimote + nanchuck + Motion Plus ~ $60

3. WII Resort + Motion Plus - $ 50

8.3 % tax would be levied on all the items.

2. Installation of Wii in India
When back in India, before connecting the adapters to electrical plugs, you must go out to the electrical spares market to check for a good Voltage convertor. In simple terms the voltage convertor will convert 240 volts (Indian standard voltage) to 120 volts (USA standard voltage) which will provide 12 volts 3.7A input supply to your Wii to start functioning properly. Buy the 50 Watt converter.

PS: DO NOT CONNECT YOUR Wii ADAPTER DIRECTLY TO ELECTRICAL PLUG WITH 240VOLTS OUTPUT SUPPLY, OR YOUR ORIGINAL Wii ADAPTER WILL BURN OUT.

When you get a good voltage convertor, in my case I purchased a locally made voltage converter which cost me around just Rs. 280. After you connect the Wii adapter to the convertor socket you can then plug in the electrical supply of 240 volts. You would be good enough to enjoy the world of Wii after syncing your Wiimotes.
